Look Like a Model: Wearable Hair and Makeup from Fashion Week Fall 2017
Fashion shows are renowned for showcasing incredibly creative hair and makeup looks that look fantastic onstage, but no average person would dare attempt to pull off in public. We’ve chosen a few of our favourite looks from Fashion Week Fall 2017 that any normal girl can confidently wear to look fabulous on a normal day.
Makeup artist Aaron de May used a pencil liner blurred with a brush topped off with a black gel liner with a flick on the end on the model’s eyes to achieve a sultry rock ‘n’ roll look. This Kate Moss-inspired look can be achieved by those aiming for an edgy style with a bit of glamour – provided you’ve practiced enough times.

These crown braids were created by Celebrity Hairstylist and TRESemmé’s new global hairstylist Justine Marjan at Alice + Olivia. According to her, these are the “perfect combination of romance and edge.” The makeup is very simple yet elegant, making it easy to pull off on a normal day.
At Jenny Packham, it was all about the twisted side-part, naturally heavy brows, and muted red lips. The result is a mixture of elegance and innocence wrapped in enigma. Sometimes, it’s this kind of simple hair and makeup looks that exude the right amount of drama.
The clothes were definitely the focal point of Lanvin’s collection as the models sported a no-makeup makeup look and hair that was either neatly combed down or parted on the side and slicked back into a ponytail. Perfect for wearing to work when you mean business.
Chocolate lips were the focal point of the hair and makeup at Rahul Mishra. As for the hair, it was a mix of the girls having their hair parted in the middle and slicked back, or embraced their natural hair textures.
Bold lip colours seem to be trending as the models at GiambattistaVallidonned minimal makeup paired with wine-stained lips. The models’ hair were gelled back for a fresh-out-of-the-shower look.
The girls at Isabel Marant strutted on the runway with blow-dried hair and natural, dewy makeup. Good news for those who love getting fashion show-worthy beauty products on a budget: makeup artist Lisa Butler used a drugstore product called Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons on the models’ lips and cheeks to achieve this look. Now this is something you can literally wear every day!
While the presence of whimsical and unconventional makeup looks and hairstyles was still evident, the reigning look seems to be a fresh face with splashes of colour on the lips. This may be the fashion world telling us it’s time to embrace our natural beauty, and we couldn’t agree more!
